Fusion With a Twist

PlasmaX Labs is mission-driven to provide sustainable, affordable fusion power to the world. We apply proven advanced manufacturing methods, modern computational physics, and high-field superconducting magnets to develop an optimized stellarator fusion system.

Stellarators Stand Out in the Future of

Stellarators are the best choice for commercializing fusion. Based on decades of groundbreaking research and innovation, these advanced devices utilize sophisticated plasma configurations to achieve a steady-state operation without the need for driven currents. Drawing on expertise and solid technical achievements from experiments like HSX and W7-X, stellarators have surpassed critical milestones, leaving no fundamental technical barriers left to prove.

Tech Enablers

PlasmaX Labs ensures its fusion systems are cost-competitive to build and operate using existing technology enablers. In collaboration with academic, national lab and corporate partners, we use capabilities such as optimization techniques, high-temperature superconducting magnets and advanced manufacturing to accelerate commercialization.

Proven Results

Members of the PlasmaX Labs team united after they demonstrated the benefits of other optimized stellarators. Responsible for important aspects of the HSX and W7-X stellarators, their experiences revealed excellent agreement between theory and real-world design. Today, we are applying these lessons to design a grid-ready machine.

FusionDirect

PlasmaX Labs ’s FusionDirect program pursues a low-risk approach to viable Fusion Pilot Plant (FPP). The team’s exceptional network of partners allows PlasmaX Labs to proceed directly to design and construct a fusion pilot plant that is intended to achieve stellarator fuel ignition conditions (Q = infinity) and put fusion-generated electricity on the grid.
